Tepantar: A rural theatre initiative with few dalits

Kallol Bhattacharyya of “Ebong Amra” theatre group hardly had any notions of doing group theatre away from the city. It was his association with Probir Guha that convinced him and inspired him to do a proper rural theatre which would not only involve theatre workers from the locality, but will also address the local issues and concerns. He talks about the early days marked with logistical and financial difficulties and how they were resolved by putting the land to use. Till this day, the story of “Ebong Aamra” and its theatre space Tepantar’s (a Theatre village) progress is rooted in land in every sense…
