Posted by Kaahon Desk On October 25, 2014

Recalling the memories of her idols, one of the most important performing artists of our time and essentially a classical music artist Rita Ganguly vehemently argues against the notion of rivalry between Begum Akhtar and Siddheshwari Devi. She also sheds light on the misconception about Begum Akhtar being a tawaif, elucidating the socio-historical factors surrounding the system. She also speaks with utter reverence about Siddheshwari Devi praising not only her musical skills but her serious and innovative engagement with the subjects.
