Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri defines Tabla as a language

Posted by Kaahon Desk On July 20, 2014

Tabla maestro Pandit Swapan Chaudhuri explains the nuanced art of the instrument and how it can reciprocate the intonation of any spoken word. He spells out in brief how the basic strokes/bols of Tabla when structured in the right rhythmic syntax work as a robust language system and exalts it above other eastern and western percussion instruments. He ascribes this unique feature of tabla as the root cause for the growing interest in the instrument, the reason why rap musicians are blending tabla phrases in their compositions nowadays.
